Notes:
Morris Canal Lock 1 East was near the Kenvil Lumber Company owned by Hough’s brother in law Joseph Mott. Joe was the brother of Hough’s wife Susan Mott Hough. Many of Hough’s paintings were painted in the Kenvil area near Joe and Anna Mott’s home at the lumber yard and were presented as gifts to them.
Hough’s nephew, Ralph Mott, talked of going out with his uncle on sunny days and holding a parasol over Hough’s head while he sketched and painted along the Canal in Kenvil, Ledgewood and Berkshire Valley.
