Notes
Unidentified Landscapes No. 1 and No. 2 are two small paintings done by Hough for his friends Abram and Emma Robinson. The Robinsons lived in an early 19th century farmhouse on Church St., just a block from the Motts on Halsey Ave. Abram and Emma’s daughter Mary talked of Hough coming to dinner or sitting on the porch with her mother sharing their “mutual interests in art and music.” The locations of these paintings are not known except that they are almost certainly local to Rockaway and Denville.
